Does the Z28 have the 1-4 skip shift

I have been shopping for a Z28. I have been in contact with a few local dealers. I went to one today to check out a new white one they just got in. They said they had new tires on order because the tires were cracked on the one they got in. I looked at it and the front spoiler was not on yet and it was dirty. I looked at the tires but could not see the cracks.

They also had a new Callaway Z28 in black. It was rated at 652 HP. I went to look at it, it was in the back. and they asked if I wanted to drive it. I said sure. When he started it it seemed very loud. Don't know how it compares to a stock Z28. I drove it kinda easy. Did not go over 4 on the tach. But it definitely had a strong pull. During the drive I noticed there was no 1-4 skip shift when driving easy. So does the Z28 have that or did Callaway tune it out.

Mine has the skip shift but I don't like it and wish it could be tuned out.

You have to crawl off the line to engage it. Usually you never see it.

Actually I think GM really did us a solid there. Gets us out of the gas guzzler category by meeting some minimum specs, and all it takes to eliminate is a $30 plug and 10 minutes?

My SS has it, and had no gas guzzler tax. It was incredibly annoying for the first few days, but is easily avoidable if you shift later than necessary when accelerating slowly. I ordered a skip-shift eliminator a couple days after purchasing, and regretted not getting one before I took possession.

The Dodge Viper has it also.

Any Tremec 6060 equipt car has the capability to have skip shift as it is a soliniod in the trans itself, viper, camaro, challenger, ect. even the connectors are the same, installed the same apex skip shift elem. on our camaro and a viper in the shop.

I rarely ever see it on my 1LE, I doubt you'll encounter it often on a Z/28.
