Mod Question

Car is stock, other then muffler delete, rotofab, and vmax tb. It's basically just a cruiser for me, no drag strip or road courses, just the occasional highway pulls, or against a vette or high end car. So my plan is to do catless jba midpipes, corsa catback, 28% lower pulley, 160 thermostat, and a tune. Do I need or should I get injectors? Heat upgrades?

Yes. You need injectors.

And you'll need a Boost-a-pump or you will lose fuel pressure. I also think that is too much pulley if you are still on the stock cam. Cylinder pressure will go so high you will have to pull all the timing out of it.

Unless you run race fuel all the time.

Get a cam with a IVC of around 46 to 50 deg ABDC. That along with the other parts on your list and it will be a monster.

I'd choose a nice 5 or 10% lower pully and be satisfied

9.55" lower pulley is a nice power jump and easy for a tuner to dial in properly. Injectors for sure and ditch the JBA idea (catless or not) just get a set of headers that don't cost a bunch like Stainless Power.

I just went through all this mess...Yes you will need Injectors if you go anything bigger then a 5% pulley. If you do a big jump like the 9.55 or bigger pulley on the bottom, don't chance it, get a Boost A Pump and have it installed on the car. If I can save anyone from the scare that I had then thats what I am gonna do. My fuel pressure was dropping off and I came close to shelling the motor in it, I destroyed the plugs (Melted the tips off). I got lucky and it looks like thats all that happened.

why don't you allow a reputable tuner do the work. lengenfelter or adm in Lewisville tx. adm did my work and ive had no problems. really awoke the car. 740 rear wheel hp just a thought

Talked to my performance shop and tuner today. Plan is for catless, catback, 28% lower, injectors, boost a pump, no thermostat, and a tune for race gas. Haven't decided on what grade yet however. Either 102 or 110 (IL) by me at least.

re-check the no thermostat. 160 seems to be the way to go. I'm sure others will chime in on this.

Most say no to the 160 thermostat because of operating temp, ideal oil temp, etc.

I wonder how "no thermostat" is accomplished. I suppose you could remove the guts out of the thermostat housing. It is a bad idea as the thermostat is there to regulate flow through the motor and radiator. This will happen too quickly when it is not present in the system.
