Oil dipstick dimension

Hi folks, could someone please measure their oil dipstick from where it seats on the tube to the full mark? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would get you an honest answer, however, mine is covered and closed up for the winter. Hopefully someone will give you the correct answer and help.

There are at least 2 maybe 3 different part no's for the LFX engine dipstick and they are different lengths. I have 2 and one is about an eighth of an inch shorter than the other. Whatever you do, do not fill your engine over the full mark as on both of my dipsticks full is right about in the middle of the hash marks with 6 quarts of oil. These are easy to overfill. Make sure you wait at least 15 minutes after you shut the engine off to check the oil. It takes these engines quite awhile to drain down.

The reason I wanted this dimension is because I have had the oil changed three times at three different places and every time it was over by one quart according to the dipstick. I changed it myself and according to the dipstick it will only hold five quarts. The filter was also changed each time.

That does not sound right. My dipstick is 20 inches from the round yellow part of the handle just above the 2 black o rings. This is the round part that acts as the stop to keep it from going further into the engine. There are 5 perforations or bumps on the dipstick . Full on my car is anywhere from the 3rd or 4th bump on the stick and between the hash marks. Remember you have to really let these drain down. You may have added 5 quarts and still had one quart in the engine that had not drained down yet. I experimented at great length with this as I also was getting mine back from the dealer overfull. I change mine myself now and let it drain until nothing is coming out. That way I'm sure I'm not overfilling it.

I have this same problem. I have let my car drain for over 2 hours and its still filled up to the top of the X marks of my 2010-2011 dipstick. Not sure about the 12-15 series, but this has always bothered me.

20 inches to the top of the hash mark? Mines 21 from the same round yellow part to the tip and 19.75 to the top dimple.
