Lets talk Paint Protection

Sounds like quite a few folks are getting into new ZL1s, me included. Wondering how many people purchase GM Paint Protection, versus DIY. For the DIY'ers, wondering what you used.

I only got Paint Protection with a car once (not GM), and I was so disappointed with it I said I'd never do it again.

Over the week after my purchase I laid down 1 coat of Klasse All-In-One, 2 coats of Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection, and 1 coat of Blackfire Midnight Sun wax. Now, over the next weeks I plan to add a few more layers of the sealant, and then am kind of a wax-a-holic as it's one of my few "down time" efforts when I just clear my brain outside.

Front rock guards. These Goodyears pick up rocks and other junk on the road when they are hot and throw them towards the rear panel and "gills" on the car. Bought mine on zl1addons.com

Do the ZL1addon rock guards stop it completely? I know with the grandsport, the quarter panel right where the rear brake duct is was getting hammered with rock chips. I had a shop apply clear bra in that area to stop any more chipping.

Haven't drove the car enough with them on. Winter in Colorado sucks . I'd imagine the little bit of protection it gives is better than nothing at all

Rock guards for sure!! Gm Paint protection Hell no huge waste of money!! Clear bra on certain areas YES. If you give it a good polish and protect it with a good sealant such as Gtechiq Exo V2 and proper washing techniques you should have a great looking car for years!!

My dealer explained to me that 'paint protection' is really just for the person that maybe waxes their car once a year. Pretty much a lazy mans protection.

As long as you're the type that polishes and waxes your car often, it's not needed.

Applying a sealant over wax? You may want to check out the detailing section before you do that.

For the price ($34.99) the rock guards from zl1addons is great quality. Easy install. No hole drilling required

I've had great results using Adams Polishes, I attached a link to the guideline they put out sometime ago and I have found it helpful.
