ls9 head gaskets needed for boost
getting closer to installing my maggie and have a question. should ls9 head gaskets be installed before the maggie goes on? i will be running the the 3.6 pulley with id 850 injectors and livernois fuel pump. i have a friend who just installed a procharger d1 on a g8 and he is having issues. have found on his vehicle that it's blowing coolant hoses and at times blows coolant out. heads are lifting letting exhaust in. talked to a couple of local ls builders and both confirmed that ls9 head gaskets are needed. anyone who can share advice or experience would be appreciated.

I installed them as a precaution for my LSA SC install since I also did heads and a cam, but I don't think it is required... Besides 'Bo knows' ;o) -- couldn't resist...

Nah lol. I will say that if the heads come off then throw the LS9 gaskets on. That's what I'm doing when I pull mine off for porting.

Not at all. Do them when heads come off but you can make 700+ without touching the heads.

Not needed. I have plenty of 800+ rwhp cars on the stock gaskets.

Stock gaskets here, I think it was Slowhawk that was telling me while we were at FSP, having a casual conversation watching Matt work on my car, that the LS3 heads will start pushing water after about 22PSI or more of boost. But I cant remember and I'll let him speak on it since he's already here in the thread. Anyway, everybody I talked to prior to that told me I was good with stock head gaskets for my build.
