clutch issue at 25000 miles

So this is what happened to me,Durring a clod snap here in Florida, My clutch pedal came only half way up when I was going from a stand still at a red light. There was a incline in the road. In that split second I did not relize that my pedal stuck and my car was rolling backward, so I put more throttle into it. My car still did not move forward and a LARGE amount of smoke came out from underneith the car. It smelt like the Brakes were burnning. I am thinking it was the Clutch. So I pushed the clutch back in and drove home. The next day I took my car to the local dealer. They looked at the car and said that "the clutch looks and works perfect." I said so you removed my trnasmission and physically looked at the clutch, they said no. They said that they test drove the car and it worked fine, so it must be fine. The dealer went on to say that my cluch pedal is "definently bad." It will be 500 dollars to replace plus the 97 dollars for the diagnostics. They said but the car is over the 3 year mark (it is almost 5 years) so the pedal is not covered under warentee. I asked about the 5 year 100k mile drive train warentee. they dealer replied that the clutch pedal is not part of the drive train even though it only works with the drivetrain. I asked if there is any thing they can do since my car only has 25000 miles. So I went through GM customer service. Told them my issue and they came back today saying there is nothing they can do. There is a TSB on this condition. The fix is to replace the pedal assembly. Note that a TSB is not a recall so their response, unfortunately is accurate.

I would go to the dealer where you purchased the car and ask for a one time good will repair since it is a known issue documented in a TSB and because your car is a low mileage.

Good luck.

To top it off my camaro went into the dealer within the first few months (of purchase)for some other transmission issues. The dealer said then that "they could not replicate it." And those issues still happen.

and even more so... I had GM stock a few years back. Then GM went bankrupt...my stock became worthless... then my taxes paid them out. Then I purchased a car from GM.

It would seem that more and more of my money goes to gm with no return on it.

I am not a happy consumer,
Bill
