Smile HOT ROD Sound I was Lookin 4

Guaranteed Mufflers in Fremont,Ca. removed my resonator and ran straight pipes on my 2010 SS, no Video yet, but can tell you it sounds prety dam good with only stock mufflers, and tips so far. Alan charged me $80 for parts and labor. His shop has done exhaust on 3 camaro V-6's so far, My 2010 their 1st V-8. Their @ Fremont Blvd@ Thorton. Will add Borla or Magnaflow later for a more uniform rumble. Thanks to ElManny for the resonator delete advice.

I have no mufflers now and I was thinking about taking out my resonator too... But I need to hear how that sounds before I do it...

Yea, it might get really load, because he said he has the stock mufflers, and removing the resonator made it loud. I did a muffler delete as well.. and I like the natural rumble...

Any idea on what they did with the v6 exhausts? I'm still not finding a sound that I like out of all the setups that people have done so far.

I know Zoomers has done a couple. You might want to contact them.

Sorry, I don't know crap about cars so I’m wondering what the resonator is for and will it adversely affect the car if you remove it? I really want to get a Hot Rod sound out of my car without losing performance. Any advice on what to get/do to do this? I'm not rich so price needs to be reasonable.

Thanks for the help.

The best explanation that I've read of what a resonator is for is this:

Quote:
Since the muffler cannot reduce the noise of the engine by itself, some (if not most) exhaust systems also have a resonator between the catalytic converter and the muffler. Resonators are basically the second muffler, and are usually the "straight through" type. The muffler quiets the noise of the exhaust by "muffling" the sound waves created by the opening and closing of the exhaust valves. When an exhaust valve opens, it discharges the burned gases at high pressures into the exhaust pipe, which is at low pressure. This type of action creates sound waves that travel through the flowing gas, moving much faster than the gas itself (up to 1400 mph = 625.8m/s), that the resonator and muffler must silence. It generally does this by converting the sound wave energy into heat by passing the exhaust gas and its accompanying wave pattern, through perforated tubes and tuning chambers. Passing into perforations and reflectors within the chamber forces the sound waves to dissipate their energy.
Really the only thing that will happen if you remove yours is that your car's exhaust note will be louder and, possibly, more raspy.

I wouldn't describe it as raspy; it sounds more like flowmasters.

I'll see you @ Buffalo's on the 13th; can't wait to hear some thunder, and get together with everyone, and meet some more fans of camaro's, and football.
