Found lost switchblade key

Before the key recall, I lost my key,at a place I go often. Concerned my car could be stolen, got new switchblade at the dealer and both keys reprogramed. Dealer stated ,they can open your door and turn switch on,but car wouldn't start, which is correct. My question is, can I do the reprogram, turn on with working fob and insert lost fob and have three switchblades. Not planning on doing the recall and don't want to mess something up and have to go back to dealer. Would like a little more than"why don't you try it and see what happens", because i can't get in my mine how these keys work. Thanks

You can sign a waiver not to do the recall

I think you will have to either go to the dealer, or a locksmith. Not all locksmiths can reprogram remotes.

Doesn't have to be done at a dealership. any locksmith with the right scanners or even a shop can do it. Cutting the key is easy, programming you can get done anywhere with the OE scanner

Thanks, but why would I need a key cut when my original key I found is the exact key as the other two I have. It opens door and will turn on switch but no start. Don't I need to just reprogram the remote?

If they changed the program key code in your Camaro the old key will not re-program.
Usually you just turn ignition on (engine off) with good key, till lights go out, take out and turn on with second key.
You could try it, but if they changed the code, these FOB's have a one time program option.
It (FOB) would have to be cleared first.

I purchased a used FOB on ebay that was "set back to virgin" with a new blade in it for 18 bucks shipped. A local mobile locksmith came to me and cut it for $50. I did exactly as described above to reprogram it to my car.

This should work.

Sorry I misread everything, no idea how I got it off that much.

If you try it and it doesn't work it won't mess anything up as long as you don't try a bunch of times, then it may have a lock up procedure to protect the car from theft. If it doesn't work the first time (correctly) it needs to be programmed, and when you program them they may or may not require all of the keys/fobs present.

Thanks everyone for your help. I ordered the 17.99 " back to virgin" remote off ebay. When it comes I will put my cut key in and try the reprogram. If it don't work I still have two working fob and only out 18 bucks. Did not know I have to do all three(reprogram) Heck,I may be in over my head!!!

You just need one working key to program, just put in turn on til the security light goes out, then do the rest of the un-programmed virgin keys.

Thanks TooCool5, will do. Like I said I have two working switchblades. When I receive 'my reflash to virgin fob' from ebay will try with one of my working switchblades. I hope, I will then have three working switchblades just in case for some reason I have to do the recall. And yes the dealer changed the key codes as you stated,so someone could't take my car. At the time I had no other choise.

Up date: Got my fob today (Flashed to virgin) had a little trouble getting pin out, pin came out very easy on my lost and found cut key and easy to reinstall in new fob. Took less than one min. to program as stated above. Now I have three working switchblades. What I'm puzzled about is I did't see anything on the DIC. HUMM Thanks everyone
