Mulling upgrade to ZL1 from 1SS

I have some money to do upgrades but what is honestly stopping me is the fact that the ZL1 is still available. Just looking for some honest feedback from some ZL1 owners about the difference between the two from an ownership prospective...going from 440ish to 580 is a good size jump, and all other go fast parts, plus being in the registry etc...Or are there some owners who wished they would have modded their SS instead of going ZL1?

Has there been any word if it will be available in 2016?

Thanks for the input!

These are two completely different cars IMHO.

The SS is a great car but the ZL1 is just in a league of its own.

Here are two topics I started that you should read through:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=397711

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=399104

Both highlight the ZL1 unique characteristics.

In summary the ZL1 mag ride, PTM modes, supercharger (factory warranty) and finally the unbreakable drive train and rear suspension components make the ZL1 the best "supercar" Camaro ever made....PERIOD.

To own one is awesome and just plain fun.

Traded a 2014 2SS/RS for my ZL1, no regrets except for maybe once a month.

Gas mileage is noticeably worse especially if you put your foot it in. The power difference is amazing, the ride is much better, handling much better. Not to state the obvious but its just a lot more fun to drive, more power, and it has a warranty.

There's nothing to add to the above. I previously owned a 2011 SS and I now own a ZL1. I cannot put it into words any better.

Just do it.

I previously owned '11 and '12 2SS convertibles. KaBoom's assessment of the two models exactly matches mine. I guarantee you won't regret making the switch from a SS to a ZL1.

ZL1 is a far superior car in every way. The ride, power, looks, drivetrain, and supercharged factory power make it a tough car to beat.

I'm selling my modded '11 2SS and buying a '15 ZL1. Seems like the right thing to do.

I just traded in my '14 2SS for a '15 ZL1 last month and couldn't be happier. My bet is there will be no 2016 ZL1 as the new Gen will probably take a yr or so before a new ZL1 is introduced.

I traded my 11 SS for my 14 ZL1. As others have mentioned, not even close.
