Supercharger Rattle and warranty repair.

My 2013 with 1100 miles has the rattle and I need to take care of this. You can hear it real good when you fire it up in the garage. If I take it to the dealer they will replace the entire unit and I have been told they put back re-manufactured superchargers and the last thing I want is a reman unit. I wish they put back a new unit.
Or the other option is I buy the solid coupling and replace it myself. Are all the solid coupling the same or is one better than the other? Also is there a thread that walks a man through this job and lists all the parts I need to buy? How long and how hard of a job is it to replace the coupling?

Thanks
Rob

It should be replaced with a new unit. They will reuse your original S/C lid. It is covered with a 10 yr./120,000 mile warranty. It took my dealer 5 hours to do the replacement.

the replacement unit is brand new with a solid coupler...not remanufactured. Many dealers have a trash pile of old superchargers according to many sources.

It was my understanding that the SC is made by Eaton and the entire unit is considered a replaceable unit which has to be sent back to Eaton as a warranty item.

I'd love to have a supercharger in my warranty pile- if they don't demand a return. I'd fix that sucker myself.
Never had one in our shop with an issue so far.

I bought a take off on ebay just for the snout and had it ported. I plan to install the ported snout and put my not ported snout on the supercharger and resell it for the same price that I bought it for $450. I see they are asking alot more for them now then when I bought this one. Most cars must have had the recall done and there are less for sell.

Did you see the box it came in? "New" engines and transmissions are refurbs... even the 5.3 I just did with 1K miles on it got a refurb engine.
Going by the part price of new vs. refurb- I think the warranty replacements are refurbs.
