ET Street R

Just came in. Real excited about this new "drag" radial from MT. Looks and feels more like a slick on the surface but has a drag radial sidewall.

Went with 315/35/17 to keep the wheel speed up in the 6M. It's all up to the driver now to figure his combo out. This tire should work well and look good on the Welds. Will know in a few months after the summer soup down here leaves.

Nice setup ...I just need to purchase mine.

My car is lowered. Do you think this combo would rub?

never know how these things work out until they are mounted and drive around the block a few times.

I'm lowered also. I've shaved the LCA bolts down, but this is the widest drag tire I've put back there. The Welds haven't changed and I run 315/35/20 Michelin PSS on the factory rims with no issues. I'll let you know.

I honestly think my old 325 m&h racemasters hooked better on the street than these. Havent been to the track with them yet though.

Glued to the rim? Please tell me what you used. The last time I went to the track my tires moved about 3 inches and I just refused to put screws in my weld wheels and was trying to figure out a way to stop the DR's from moving.

IIRC, isn't that what GM discovered in the Z/28's when braking? it'd stop so hard the tires were rotating on the wheels. I believe GM went with bead blasting the surface of the rims where they contact the tires to provide a rougher surface for the tire to grip.

Not sure if it would improve the grip enough for drag strip use though.

I wanted to get the 325 M&H Racemasters so bad. Let me guess, you Guys are running an Auto?? Perfect tire for an Auto with your gearing. 28" tire not so good for a Manual though. With our 1st speed gearing you want a shorter tire to keep the wheel speed up.

I gained 2 MPH trap speed in worse air going from my 27.2" MT ET Street 295/45/17 to a 26.4" MT ET Street 305/35/18. These ET Street R 315/35/17 are even shorter at 25.9".

I still haven't figured out how to hook on any of these tires so I'm going for trap speed at this point. If the ET Street Rs hook up that will be a bonus. I know the M&H would have worked though.

^^^Niice!! Shows you how much I know. I'm sure the M&H will work well regardless and look a lot better filling up our rear wheel wells.

Still Real excited about the potential of this ET Street R. I'll let everyone know in a couple of weeks if its hit or miss.
