1st Gen GM Licensed Camaro bodies..
I was reading a magazine the other day, and I saw where GM has now licensed a reproduction 1967 Camaro body. It costs 13k. From what I am seeing, a person could, if he wanted, build a brand new 1967 Camaro with nothing but new parts.
It might make an interesting project. I am doing the math and considering it.. I wonder if there would be any trouble getting it titled? http://realdealsteel.com/i-20900965-...-deck-lid.html Complete doghouse sheet metal is another $1700. Anyone know anything about this company?

I've heard the fit on those is terrible.
It would be cheaper to buy a rust free car and restore it and even cheaper still just to buy a really nice one that was already done.

Goodmark was making 69 bodies a while back. The fit tolerance was closer than in 1969, title has never been a problem here in Michigan. Just have bill's for parts to show you purchased them and paid taxes. I have built dune buggies and titled them.

I know a shop where 1 of the customers was having nothing but problems trying to register one these.
Apparently doing a vin swap is illegal. I know each state is different, but all I know is in NY, Its not easy.

A good friend of mine builds/customizes cars, mainly Corvettes, for individuals and for Barrett-Jackson. A couple years ago he did a few early-model Camaros. For a couple he built them 'new' from the ground up (frame, body, etc).
As far as the VIN, he found really cheap Camaros, usually not running & rusted out, and bought them. He then went through a process to have the VIN transferred to the new vehicle ... not sure how he did it. One of the Camaros he did for Barrett-Jackson was featured on one of their tee-shirts last year. If you're interested in seeing some of his work, here's a link to his website: www.CorvetteCenterLtd.com {if you do, go to the 'special projects' page to see his builds}

You can use a donor car, or use the certificate of origin to license it as a kit car. It's not hard. I've not yet talked to anyone who didn't have problems with the reproduction bodies... and a good original is STILL way cheaper way to go.
