After AFM/DOD delete, which cams can i use?

im looking into getting the AFM/DOD delete kit from Texas Speed and Preformance. But figured id throw a camshaft in while i had the engine ripped open. since i delete the AFM, do i still need to use an AFM specific cam? im sorry im not very educated on this, but knew this was the place to ask. Thanks!

Are you pulling the heads and removing the AFM lifters? Are you doing and LS3 conversion? If you don't change lifters, the you'll be limited AFM cam choices. If you intend to keep vvt (I did) or want an LS3 a.k.a bigger cam, then new lifters are a must. You'll need valve spring kit et. el. Ryan from GPI is top notch as well as Texas Speed when it comes to VVT. I can personally speak for Ryan. Do your home work first and decide on what your goals are. Are you going FI ( super charged/turbos/nitrous) or staying NA (naturally aspirated)?

That should be you first step. Also, check out Robertways thread :

Mine shows vvt with phase limiter and GPI VVT1 cam install, including head r n r and lifters

This will give you and idea what to expect...

Contact a shop, you need to research the pros and cons of VVT and fixed cams before doing away with it.

AFM is different than VVT, AFM disables certain cylinders, VVT is able to change the timing on the fly.

100% right. Talk to a shop and really discuss your goals. Research is your friend..

The good part is with the TSP camshaft we can give you before & after dyno data from the TSP camshafts side by side on the same engine! No this car made this / this car made that crap. With a engine dyno we can side by side the camshafts on the same engine/same day!!
