Question for ZL1 owners

I started with a 14 l99 and traded it for a 14 1LE. I love my 1LE but it seriously lacks in the power department. Im thinking about either super/turbocharging this car or stepping up to an A6 ZL1 to have a car easily capable of 10's. Im just thinking that with all the mods my 1LE would need to handle the power that its just not worth the hassle. What are some of you guys thoughts. Thanks

I just upgraded from a '15 1LE because of basically the same issue. I personally would recommend going with the ZL1, I love it :-)

Me too. I just 5 weeks ago I turned in my 14 1LE with only 6600 miles. And got a 2015 M6 ZL1. The difference is stunning between the two. Brakes are better, and the power just keeps getting better as the break in miles go by. I have about 1200 miles on mine now. The tranny gearing is lower in the ZL1, thats one thing I noticed immediately.

Buy the ZL1, once you start modifying the 1LE the value will decrease.
Besides, the ZL1 is the real deal.

I went from a '14 2SS (L99) to a '15 ZL1 A6 and didn't look back. However, I did mod the ZL1 a little bit (see sig).

I have to agree with the others, get the ZL1. I was in a similar position as you, had a 2011 2SS and once the warranty ended I was deciding between modding the SS, waiting to drive a 2016 SS or get a ZL1. Becky at Rodgers Chevy talked me into driving a new ZL1 she had coming into the lot and that was all she wrote! There's just no comparison, the ZL1 is just awesome. I'm hoping to try some track time next summer at Gingerman Raceway to see what that's like.

To be honest, if I made a conscious decision for a 1/LE then that's the model that I would stick with. 1/LEs are hot, especially '14-'15 with Recaro Sport Seats, NPP and kept immaculate. Now if you test drove a ZL1 and got stung by the new car bug then I'd say that you've got a problem.

If it has to be a ZL, then shop around for a bargain. Another thing is that I would not go from a new car purchase (guessing for the 1/le) to a used car purchase, regardless of the model. Its just something about the New Car Day that I don't want to compromise on the experience. Good luck.

I went from a 45th anniversary edition SS manual that I loved, until I drove my 2014 zl1. I just ordered the Ligenfelter 650hp package and heat exchanger coming shortly. I can't wait to see the difference. it's not even a question the zl1 is truly an awesome ride. You'll see.

Right now is the time to get a 2015 ZL1, got mine 3 months ago for a steal, 5k under factory msrp (20% of total msrp)

I love my ZL1 so much, very happy with my choice. Going to keep my ZL1 for ever I will tell you that, and slowly mod it over time so it never gets boring.

The problem with the SS or 1LE is there mod friendly. The ZL1 is made for mods as you pointed up, it easily can become a 10 second car. And with some serious work a 9 second car.
