Insurance

Who are you guys using for boosted car insurance? Is it possible to have mods covered? Also if I disconnect my battery, will this create any issue with my tune?

You can have modified insurance but it is expensive.

No issues with disconnecting the battery.

I run storage insurance in the winter months to keep cost down. But I'm young(23)

Depends on provider. Most won't cover mods or have certain limits. You can get specialty insurance, but typically there are trade offs there (mileage limits, can't be a DD, etc).

ECU can be pulled out of car and stuck on a shelf for a few years. It does not need power to maintain a tune.

I've got mine insured for $70,000 with no limitations. It's not nearly enough but it helps. Can't remember the company right now, my insurance agent set it up and payment is automatically taken out of my account. Out of sight out of mind.

Farmers. I was able to insure individual mods (FI, exterior, etc). by providing receipts. Cost a bit more, but provides a piece of mind. I might have forgotten to mention that it's seen the track a time or two...

Progressive offers loan payoff and custom accessory insurance. Added $5,000 of accessory insurance for about $35 per 6 months. The only limitation is that if you ever submit a claim including these items, you'll have to show proof of ownership and prove that they were installed. Easy enough.
