Question Performance trends. LSx V8 or Turbo 4?

The Nova seems more current in thinking. Recent cars have smaller turbo engines for emissions and economy, plus better handling with less weight in the nose. The old school way was more displacement and don't worry about the understeer! Would anyone put a turbo 4 into a classic musclecar?

No.

The only thing that would see the inside of my Chevelle's engine bay is a Chevy V8.

I wouldn't. If it's a classic muscle car it needs a classic muscle sound not hornets buzzing in a coffee can. I know a 4 cylinder with a turbo can go like stink, but they have no business in classic muscle cars IMO.

Maybe in a Pinto or a Vega, or better yet an MG.

you may find plenty of fast cars with turbo 4's....but there is no such thing as a Muscle Car with a turbo 4...... it like the Unicorn if the automotive world.

I can appreciate the work and effort, but when the car has a 396 badge, I feel like this , if I see a mouse motor. The car is still way cool, but something is missing to me.

Heck no would I ever put anything but a V8 in any old car. My 69 has its original 327 in it but I am considering a LS3 swap in it and my 55 chevy Im building is getting an LS engine in it also.

If they could make a 4cyl that sounded like a V8 then maybe someone might, but I'm pretty sure most people would rather have a dog of a V8 in their classic then the most powerful turbo 4cyl ever. I'd be fine with an ATS and a turbo 4 though. =)

A turbo four cylinder engine seems more appropriate for a sports car, but not a muscle car.

This was the OP`s question, "Would anyone put a turbo 4 into a classic muscle car?". If by classic muscle car the OP meant an original SS Camaro or Nova for example then no, most would probably not ruin the resale value, but if you`re talking about a plain Jane base model then sure, why not if the car was light enough and the engine was cheap enough. But I`m guessing that the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is currently be offered in 2016 Camaro and the supporting hardware for it isn`t going to be a cheap transplant option for most.
