Tb cleaning, Can I push the blade back to clean the tb?

I been reading different things with different answers. I want to clean my tb because I have alot of carbon build up around the blade but I'm not sure if Im supposed to use my fingers to press the blade back. I've read to have someone in the driver seat pressing the gas pedal to open up the blade. Which method should I use?

I would honestly just remove the TB and clean it that way.

Piece of cake to pop them off.
