purchasing out of your state/inspection law?
I am purchasing my car from DEL and I live in NJ... so I know i need to get my car inspected in NJ.. my question is: Do I have to wait until I receive my plates to get inspected in NJ?

I'm interested, I live close the the NJ, PA border and had briefly thought about looking at surrounding states for availability and prices.

yes you have to wait to get your reg. and plates you will get a yellow card with your paper work then you can go to insp. sta. and you will get a four year sticker

We purchased our car in Virginia, and we live in NY...we got the Virginia inspection sticker that was good for 1 year and the 30-day temporary Virginia plates...
 When the 30 days were up, we had to register our car in NY and pay the NY sales tax of 8.75% vs 3% VA tax, and then we had to have our car inspected, yet again, in NY to get a NY state inspection sticker good for 1 yr...so I paid to get my car inspected TWICE and almost 3X the amt of sales tax that I would have paid in VA!!!...

grrr... cause now i'm gonna have to worry about getting a front plate asap to pass inspection

get your dealer to give you a we owe you letter.then when you go to insp.sta. put plate in windshield.i did this and there was no problems
