Joseph.lord344's 2010 2SS/RS

So, my whole life I grew up around GM people. My uncle had a 85 Monte Carlo SS with the 350 it had a shift kit and i just remember him showing off in front of us kids. My other uncle has 3 corvettes a 72, 73, and 74 one of which is a stingray. Fast forward a few years, i was 19 and stationed at a USAF base in Germany i decided to buy my first "new" car, it was a 08 Dodge Ram. I never really liked dodge but i wanted a truck, it had the hemi, and the color was awesome. I put so much work, time, and money into that truck(full exhaust, cai, lowering kit, complete interior dynamat'd, 2400 watt amp pushing 2 12's) I never thought i would sell that thing because i loved it!

Im now 22 and back in the states stationed in southern NM. I was "browsing" the local dealers web page and happened across a 2010 Camaro 2SS/RS in Red Jewel TIntcoat. I told my wife i was going to check it out after work and if i like it we will see what happens. The dealer had me test drive it first.....bad idea. (really an awesome idea) I left that night with a new addition to my story. It had a few cosmetic upgrades such as painted engine cover and a few billet caps under the hood. It also had a skip shift eliminator and muffler delete. Here are a few pics of the night i brought it home.

After i brought the car home i started looking for forums and found Camaro5. I started reading and reading and reading...you get the point lol. The first mod i did myself was took the TB and intake manifold off to get ported by a guy in AZ.

So i took my time and layed out my parts so i wouldnt forget anything. It made it seem like a need a bigger workbench!

I used microfibers to cover all of the openings.

I dont have any pictures of the after, because i was too excited to get everything put on i totally forgot to take any pics of the port job.

About a month or so later i pulled the trigger on a oil catch can and hurst billet plus short shifter.

That brings us to today not even six months after i bought the car lol. I have a mod list the length of the "what did you do to your camaro today" thread haha and i wont stop until this car is exactly how i want it to be!

13 March 2016 (UPDATE)

So after a few months of nothing i decided to pull the trigger on a set of Stainless Power 1 7/8" with offroad pipes. Here is a few pics of the install.

How many miles on the car when you bought it? Buckle up, you're just getting started on the mods.

Joseph,
Very nice Camaro. I love the Red Jewel Tintcoat! It was my second choice in 2010...

Keep up the great work, and Thank-You for your service to our country

It had right around 43k. very low for the year and my location. since everything is highway miles. and i agree 100% i find myself looking at new mods to buy every day. lol

I love this color too. i just really want to add gloss black rally stripes instead of the white i think it will accent it better with black powdercoated rims. and thank you, i appreciate your support!

Congratulations on the car man. I was the same way. The same day I bought the car, lowering springs and Z28 spoiler were already on the way. When the mod bug bites you're in for the long haul haha.

Oh don't get lowering springs haha. I learned my lesson. When you decide to go lower, bite the bullet and do it right and just get coilovers, trust me. The ride with lowering springs was awful and you'll end up wishing you spent the extra money on coilovers just like me.

I hear ya on the appearance though, that was me up until I started talking to Joe@CPR. He's to blame for my power addiction, or at least I like to tell myself that haha.

i actually got my TB and intake manifold ported by the guy who works at CPR. I drove 6 hours from alamogordo, nm all the way to phoenix! lol and yeah ive been reading alot on springs vs coilovers vs air bags. they all have pros and cons. the biggest pro for springs is the price, but the cons are always the ride quality.

Thank you so much! It has some cosmetic things, like road rash on the gills from all the dirt and sand in NM. but other than that i love this car. the hurst shifter is awesome. and thank you for your support!

Road rash is normal, that is a weak point, mine had it until I had it painted. So much you can do to improve on the car. Suspension has a lot of room for improvements...

It will be fun for sure. My build is a long read, but I did document all my upgrades... You will probably document too as it's fun to see what all you've done...

Yeah ive been meaning to buy some of that dr colorchip stuff. to see how well it works. any thoughts on that? also i starting reading into your build. i love your car haha i only wish i could s/c down the road. and yes i will document my build as i go along. ive been a member of a few forums with cars and i always like to do some sort of DIY threads. i figured my build thread would be a good place for some tips if new mechanics need some help.

Yep, good to document for others...

Dr Chip won't look right if you have a lot of nicks... Don't ask me how I know ;o) LSA kit is reasonably priced and is great if you're looking for a factory finish. Work out you long term goals, and mod as time and money allow. I personally enjoy doing the work myself as I'm sure you do too...
