Exhaust advice 2013 camaro ss
I assume I am not alone in that I am underwhelmed with the stock exhaust sound on my Camaro. I have a 2013 Camaro ss convertible The car is bone stock and I rather like the stock look and reliability I would like the car to sound a bit meaner but still civilized so my wife enjoys riding in it. I have done a fair amount of reading up on the different exhaust options. I have used Borla in the past on my corvette and loved it. It seems the new Borla axle back has an issue with drone. I have also looked at buying a NPP set up. I also read a thread on here where a summit xpipe was installed and stock mufflers were kept and the sounds was good. Has anyone here done this and if so is there a clip of it?
I am purely looking for sound as I understand to get performance gains that headers / high flows cats ect would need to be done and I am not looking to do that at this time. Just looking for better sound! I am open to any and all advise. Thanks don |

I did the Flowmaster Force II axel back and am very happy with them; has a deep, 'hearty' sound and no drone.

I bought mine with the Corsa catback. No drone at all and it sounded like a stock note at cruising speed. It was very similar to the factory exhaust just with a bit more volume during acceleration and WOT.

First things first, manual or auto because it makes a difference.

I love the Magflow street (#15089) exhaust but I have LT headers and high flow cats. It is not a lot louder than stock but sounds much deeper and meaner. I have an L99.
I have read that some with stock manifolds and cats say it is too quiet though. With the LT headers and HF cats it is perfect for "me"...I do not like really loud exhaust though. |

Something to consider, you have a convertible! So far you've gotten responses from all coupe owners. I was considering an after market exhaust as well, so I searched the convertible forums for input from convertible owners. I would suggest posing the question over there.
I'm actually not going to get an after market after installing a CAI. The car sounds good with slight acceleration and great when I stomp on it! It's still stock quiet at cruise speeds, which I prefer. It really will come down to preference and whether or not you want to hear someone in the passenger seat with the top down! Before my last decision I read opinions and watched a ton of Youtube videos, but I was also told it's best to get an "in person" ear to the exhaust note as everyones preference will be different. |

Solo FTW! That is if you don't want to gain the power and sound by just adding long tube headers. It stays drone free and gives a great performance advantage in addition to the sound. However, like my opening statement, Solo FTW! I love my Solo catback. It sounds good, it's mean at WOT, and zero drone.

CIA (cold air intake) I would suggest CIA brand, Airaid, or RotoFab, none of these require a tune and will a little bump in power and sound.
