speed limited

We went for a ride yesterday and while passing a string of cars the computer shut me down and a notice came up on the HUD , speed limited to 85 . When I got back in line I looked down and all lights were off on the traction management , when I got home , started it and lights were working but don't know if the limit is gone . Anyone else have this happen ? Sort of unnerving while passing when another car is on your arse.

Could be the Speed Warning is on, pg 5-27 in the Owners Manual, 2013 edition. It allows the driver to set a speed they do not want to exceed. To set the warning press SET-CLR when speed warning is displayed. There's probably an option to shut it OFF when displayed. I've never used it or even tried to bring it up on the display.

I believe it's set to OFF by default. I had never bothered to look at mine so I went out to check and found it set to OFF. You can press the button on the end of the lever to set it.

Speed warning is on, mess with your car settings to turn it off. Should take 1 minute or so

The speed warning will only flash and beep when set, it will not govern the speed of the car.

According the the manual the speed warning is a different message. This one seems related to the ride control:

The actual speed limited message shows as:
"
SPEED LIMITED TO XXX
(ZL1 Only)
This message displays when a
malfunction is present in the
Selective Ride Control system. The
vehicle speed will be limited to a
value determined by the vehicle
when the shock absorber system
has failed and the shocks are in
their full soft mode. Have the vehicle
serviced by your dealer as soon as
possible."

If it was the user limiter is would be:
"
DRIVER SELECTED SPEED
LIMIT EXCEEDED
This message is displayed when the
vehicle speed is greater than the set
speed. See
Speed Warning
under
Driver Information Center (DIC) on
page 5-24"

Thanks. That's good to know. It was just a possibility.

This happened to mine, the computer for the MRC lost comms/program in/with the ECM, but did not reset itself, dealer had to get a. New program/tune from GM and all is good, my best guess since I was not home when it happened, caused by dead battery and/or wife trying to jump it. After trip to the dealer have battery tender on it since she only runs it once every two months, so far so good.

It's not the speed control.

Correct. Mine would not go over 85 at all. It was the magnetic ride control MRC that caused the issue, because the shocks have no juice to align the particles, they are set to the softest setting....hence why the warning comes up when you hit 85.

New here...and have been reading up on everything related to the topic. I know how to turn off the speed alarm, and know how to set it (ran it up out of the way to 150, not that I'm going anywhere near that fast). Regardless of the setting (off or pick a number), my speed exceeded warning always comes on at 74 MPH. Taking it to the dealer to resolve, as I'm well within warranty. Curious if anyone else has had this happen???
