Detailed; Paint Correction/Glazed/Waxed!

Michelle and I took the time this past weekend to tag team her car, and get it ready for the season. I got started Friday afternoon while she was still at work.
Engine bay was first.
Spray down with the hose to a cool engine.
Adam's All Purpose Cleaner and a thorough scrub with an assortment of brushes.
Clear water rinse.
Then the use of my gas powered pressure washer with the delicate tip installed to remove what I couldn't reach with my brushes.

Not too bad for a four year old 57,000 mile daily driver that sits outside 24/7/365.
I dried the engine bay with my Master Blaster, then closed the hood and started her up. I let her run while I cleaned the wheel wells, tires, and wheels to make sure she was thoroughly dry under the hood.
Next came a good foaming from my MTM Foam Cannon and two ounces of Adam's Car Shampoo.

I let the foam dwell for five minutes or so while I prepped a bucket with an HD soap specifically formulated for use as a strip wash. I added a new Grit Guard Wash Board attachment to my buckets traditional Grit Guard, pretty cool little piece. The car was rinsed of the foam with the pressure washer and a two bucket strip wash removed any remaining sealants, waxes, and glaze.
The car was given a final Spot Free Rinse from my Reverse Osmosis unit.

I clayed the car while there was still water on it. I used Adam's new Visco Clay Bar with the Geo Impression Tool and Adam's Detail Spray as the Clay Lubricant.

This was from just the driver's side door! This bar is soft and stretchy, it picks up contaminants. I use the Geo Impression tool to not only reintroduce the impressions into the clay but as a handle making the clay much easier to hold onto. Took me about 45 minutes to clay the entire car.
After claying I dried the car with my Master Blaster, then touched up several paint chips. I got the touch up paint from PaintScratch.com and used paint applicators from Griot's Garage.
Done for Friday

Saturday morning I pulled the car out to the curb in front of the house. I sprayed the wheel wells with Adam's Invisible Undercarriage Spray Dressing (USD) and let it drip on the street, not my driveway. I wiped the car down with Adam's Waterless Wash, and cleaned around the door jambs and around the inside of the trunk lid. I'd clayed the glass Friday, but like to have the windshield spotless. I scrubbed it with 0000 Steel Wool using Adam's Glass Cleaner as a lubricant. With the Steel Wool still in my hands I also cleaned the exhaust tips. While the USD was finishing it's dripping from the wheel wells I addressed a few larger paint defects.

A 4" foam pad attached to a Drill Backing Plate and my 18 volt Makita cordless drill with Adam's Paint Correcting Polish made short work of most all of the marks.

This door ding had scraped quite a bit of paint from the car, unless I sit you on the ground at just the right angle and show you where to look I'd bet you'd never find it.

The car was pulled back onto the driveway; paint correction by me, and a through interior detail by Michelle began. I used a Rupes Bigfoot 15 with an Orange Microfiber Pad and Adam's Paint Correcting Polish. I didn't wipe the polish residue off, but applied Menzerna Finishing Glaze 115C right over top of the residue by hand to; number 1, make the dried polish residue much easier to remove, and 2, give the paint the clarity and pop that's gained from a glaze. I use the Menzerna on daily driver's as its a pretty substantial glaze. This one helps in filling in any marring, scratches, or defects my polishing didn't remove. I'm not polishing for a show car finish on most daily drivers, so a one step polish and glaze makes this car look better than about 90% of the cars out on the road.

Inside the door jambs I applied a coat of some Adam's Quick Sealant I had remaining. I'd also applied the Quick Sealant to the wheels and rear diffuser. I like the deep dark black look the Quick Sealant leaves on textured plastic, it also lasts longer than traditional Trim Dressings. Adam's Glass Sealant was applied to the windshield.
My LSP was a nice thin layer of Adam's new Americana Premium Paste Wax to add the gloss and depth a natural carnauba is known for.

Oh, and by the way, the tires had been coated several weeks ago with two coats of McKee's 37 Tire Coating.

I'm glad you and your daughter have an activity you can share together, you can get really involved with her on so many levels with a car as the focus.

My sons are both Autistic and attached to their computers at the hip. Even when they do interact with the wife & I, it's Geek Speak about these INVOLVED computer games that make my brain hurt trying to keep up (not that I can even come close to understanding)
