2007 Suburban

My suburban losses oil. It doesnt smoke and there are no visible leaks or oil on the floor yet the engine oil light comes on between oil changes. Dealer says this oil consumption in normal. It should not do this. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Do you have to add a quart every 1000 miles? 2000 miles? etc..

Do you change the oil yourself? If you take it to a shop, do they fill it up to the right amount?

I change it myself and it seems to be more than a quart. Dealer look at it today and said it was 2 quarts low.

It's normal..I think it is an issue with blow by on the LSx. All of mine use some oil.

It's definitely not normal. My stepdad has a 05/06(can't remember) 5.3L with over 70k HARD miles & it doesn't leak a single bit. You may want to find a forum where people can scoot you in the right direction. I did a bit of research & some people are having the same problem, but it should not use 2 quarts in 5k miles. It could be something wrong with one of your pistons or a ring, but I'm not going to sit here & tell you something that I don't know for sure. Hell, give a few dealers a call & you should be able to find one that will work with you.

I agree that it is not normal. Ive had 2 s10's 3 silverados a tahoe and a suburban. The only one to consume oil is the burban. Gm says it normal but it should not be.
