Where to lose weight

Aloha gang,
I can't believe how much this car weights. I just traded in my cam and header LS2 corvette. Hi 11 second car on street tires. Picked up this 2010 SS/RS. I love this car, but man. Me in it, 1/2 tank gas. 1420lbs. That's ridiculous! Feels slower than my vette even with the supercharger and headers. The supercharger weight 125lbs. I also have the hotchkins race pack. I forget how much that weighs, but I doubt it's worth the extra weight. I may remove most of the kit. Where is some places to cut weight. Without losing durability. 550+whp. Thanks for any help on this

I gutted my trunk ,never weighted the the air pump and trim and carpet but I probably shaved 25lbs at best lol. Not to many ways to cut weight in a gen5, I love the interior to much in the cabin to gut down to just a race seat. Probably only be worth -200lbs at best anyways

You will love that weight if you were ever to get into a wreck though.

Wheels, tires, battery...

Put a 3.91 gear in it, retune. Should feel like a new car with better gearing and lighter wheels.

Cast 20s are ridiculously heavy. Not going to get anywhere near Corvette weight, but the gearing alone would make it much sportier to drive. The thing about the Camaro is getting it to feel fast and not worry about the number on the scale.

A stock ZL1 is portly, but drives like a much lighter car because of engineering. Your car just needs some final touches. And if it feel slow now, definitely some tuning work.

Actually I might be one of the few that likes fat cars

Sure they're not gonna be Vette territory fast but man my SS offers a pretty comfortable ride for the speed it does give me so I am very happy with that

There's a couple of great threads on here for weight reduction. Just have to search for them.

You can easily knock off close to 200 lbs without completely comprising the interior of your car with some simple things like emptying trunk, long tube headers, racing seats, backseat delete, etc.

I think the front seats alone are around 45+ lbs each. Aftermarket 18's could save up to 10-15 lbs per wheel over the heavy OEM 20's which would equal even more in unsprung weight. Braille battery and suitcase muffler delete would take it over 200 lbs saved. That alone should make a noticeable difference.

I'm 6' 1" 195lbs. I quess I could lose 5 pounds. I already have long tubes. Light exhaust. The supercharger weights 125lbs. The car just doesn't feel real fast because the weight. I'll try to find the thread on dropping 200lbs. I am thinking 3:91 gears. I hope coil overs are lighter. I will be switching those out soon. Defiantly the wheels
