Beat me to it! I was pleasantly surprised when I ordered mine to hear this. Hopefully the factory can reduce the hockey stripe gap between the fender and fascia...I was getting some business due to some of our local installers, as they were leaning on the hood with their elbows and putting small dents in the hood. I was then called in a couple of times to repair the dents.

Thats my concern exactly. I hate that huge gap between the fender and fascia.
A couple of members.... one being jrhaus, have their hockey sticks installed w/o the gap and they look great!!!!

I think you have to remove the front bumper to install w/o the gap if I'm not mistaken.

I have an OEM set of Hood/Hockey sticks that I purchased from another member on the way. If the Factory Installs mine w/ that huge gap, I'm gonna remove them and have them installed w/o the gap.

I last heard that only the rally stripes were required to be installed at factory, But I cannot back that up with solid facts. Best of luck.

Hylton told me about a month ago that the hockey stripes were dealer installed. This was after the update that all rally stripes are now factory installed.

You do not HAVE to remove the front bumper cover but it is reccomended.

I spoke with John Fitzpatrick at a car show and asked him what the intent at GM was, gap or no gap. He said they are designed ot have the gap at the seam to allow the bumper cover to flex and not tear the stripes. Good idea. So, as Mr. B states, my stripes are, or should I say were, rolled into the seam to not have the gap. When the installer did so, she rolled the fender piece in then the bumper piece and the bumper piece overlapped the fender piece. This is what you DO NOT want. If the bumper flexes, it can pull on the stripe and rip it. Not a big deal to me as I had some paint work done on the front bumper. I instructed the body shop to make sure there is no overlap. Now there is not. The bumper piece and the fender piece can flex independant of one another with no risk of tearing. For those of you adding (or redoing) the stripes, i would have them lay out the stripe locations then remove the bumper and install the stripes then remount the bumper. May cost a bit more but I think it is worth it to not have the gap.

My guess is cars with factory H/H stripes are going to have the gap as they were designed that way... sorry guys. Time will tell once we see the first factory installed stripes.

Not being confrontational, I have confirmed that all GM stripes are factory installed. I ordered mine with the hockey stripe kit option code "VYQ"...so no dealer arranged install.

If you ordered stripes with an RPO that starts with the letter "V", it's going to be installed at the dealer.
