305 /30-19 tires

Guys

Planning on Autoxing this year in FS. Bought some 19x10, 19x11 spaced stock lite forged rims for 1LE.

Will 305/30-19 fit on with 1/4" spacers on the front. Has anyone used 305 square? (obviously z/28)

I just received our 19's and with our current alignment with camber maxed out in the front I would be worried about a 305's hitting the strut ours are very close with just the wheel itself bolted up with 19x10 with +16 offset

19x10 is too small for 305, and is even outside the recommended fitment range. Besides, even if you find a place that will install it for you despite it being out of safe range, the front tires will bulge. They will be more bouncy, and also they won't have any more tread width on the ground than a 285 tire since it will be dictated by the wheel width. You need at least 10.5" wheel width for 305s, and ideally at least 11" for best performance.

All good points . I was hoping to save a few bucks. I'll order 285s.

I have 305 on the front of my stock 10" 1LE rims with 5mm spacers. They do not rub at all. It is not the tire bulge I thought might be there. I don't know what is recommended for 19's though. The 305 Hankook RS-3's do say they fit a 10" rim. Remember, I have the 20".

Goodyear shows support for 10" RIMs with 305/35/20s:

https://www.goodyear.com/en-US/tires...ViewSizesSpecs

What's:

Approved Rim Width (in.) 10.0 - 12.0

vs. Measured Rim Width (in.) 11.0

That's 20", which is why I stated 19x10 would be too small, not just any 10" wide wheel

By the way, since my post, I experimented a bit more on tires on smaller wheels. You always gain traction with wider tire no matter what wheel size, but small wheels make the car feel softer, and less precise (more lag in transitions). In other words, now I believe that 305 would almost always increase traction over 285, no matter what wheel size.

If only I could read. ;-)

So, below he uses a 5mm spacer. I have never seen one. Concerns tracking with a spacer?

That's a 35 profile tire, and its slightly taller sidewall buys it acceptability on rim widths a little further away from "measuring". In both directions in this particular case.

305/30-19 is approved from 10.5" to 11.5" on the same 11" measuring width.

FWIW, I don't think the wheel diameter matters in more than maybe a few isolated cases - and not at all likely over the narrow range of wheel diameters under discussion here. You don't even see diameter when you look at a tire & wheel cross section where you do see things like bulge (and where the tire engineers would see things like flex points and temperature profiles).
