V6 engine rattle, piston issue?

Has anyone had problems with pistons in a 2011 v6? Mine is at the dealer and I was told by a GM engineer that it has piston slap.Has what sounds to me a valve train rattle at 1700 to 3000 rpms. The car has 24,500 miles on it and has had the oil changed every 3,000 miles. This car has never been driven hard and never has even seen rain!! ( sunny days only) Sits in a carpeted garage next to my 71 Chevelle most of the time. I hate to have this engine torn apart! This problem has my quite frustrated because the way I keep my cars and the fact that it is 9 Months OUT of warranty. I've heard of connecting rod bearings going bad in these engines but not pistons. I'm asking Chevrolet to step up and back their product, as they have for me in the past.

Out of warranty here too. Look on the bright side... at least you don't own an import!

Had a valve spring and rocker bust on cylinder three a couple of years ago. Cost me (only) 500 to repair at my preferred service department.

Are you popping any codes? Maybe its not the engine its self... sometimes its as simple as a spark plug wire issue or bad gas. Sure its not engine knocking?

Hard to diagnose engine issues from a forum... good luck... and welcome!

No codes coming up. I just heard something that wasn't normal so I bought it in and an engineer from Chevrolet was there and listened to it and said it was a piston.

Beautiful car there! Sorry to hear of your troubles. I would suggest recording a video with your phone of the sound from under the hood if possible. Someone might recognize the source of the sounds....I think your car has the LLT motor which has had some issues like spun bearings to name one. Not suggesting its that mind you either.

You might want to post this in the V6 section as you will find more people familiar with that motor I would think... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=38 Maybe search in there too I know there have been some motor problem threads posted there as I have read them myself out of interest.

Maybe this thread may sound similar to your issue has a video of the sounds he hears too... http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=465709
