Front Bumper Conversion from LS to ZL1. Couple of noob questions

1. I've always thought that the front bumper from any kinda of hard was plugged to (i honestly dont know where) but it was plugged into somewhere in the car. I remember seeing someone take off their bumper and had to unplug something from the car that was connected to the bumper. So is that true or no?

2. im looking at the conversion and I have my eyes on Garys Custom ZL1 conversion kit, now i see the ZL1 bumper has two types of fogs, what is the 2nd one for? and is it necessary to have on?

3. Im also going to purchase RS Headlights, do i need a harness? or since its a Zl1 bumper id be off the hook? again maybe it i do need it because the bumper doesnt have a port/connection ( i guess this goes back to question 1). lol

4. top right of the headlight has a crack (the bracket holding the headlight into place) is this a separate piece? or does it come with the headlights itself?

Thank you all so much in advance for taking the time to answer my questions

i have a 2014 Camaro LS by the way

There are electrical connections going to the bumper if you have fog lights, the headlights stay attached to the car when the bumper cover is removed.

If you post a picture of the broken part on your headlight it would be easier to tell you if its attached or a separate piece. but I'm guessing its attached to the headlight as its one large housing I believe.

1- The wiring harness of the fog lights is attached to the fascia. There is a plug (I think on the passenger side) that plugs into the main wiring harness. This is what you see people disconnect. Because you have a LS, you don't have this, all other trims do.

2- One of the lights is designed for daytime running lights (DRL's) the other one is set up for actual fog lights. However most people who do the conversion set it up so both act as DRL's. And fyi, a separate wiring harness must be purchased to use these.

3- The ZL1 fascia is designed for 2010-2013 Camaro's. In order to do the swap on a 2014+ you have to buy 2010-2013 headlights (MSRP $1,000 per side for the halo version), grill (I think Gary sales this), wiring harness (You'll have to hit up Gen5diy for this), along with several other things. To get a complete list and cost run down you'll need to look at the DIY section and see if someone has down a breakdown of it yet.

4- A pic is required so we can see what it is you're talking about.

Sorry, but to cherry pick on this. "The ZL1 fascia is designed for 2010-2015 Camaro's".

Nope. It's a direct swap for 2010-2013's only. Like I posted above, in order to make it fit on 14's-15's additional parts must be purchased.

Working on this conversion myself. Bumper cover is in the paint shop. still need to purchase the upper ZL1 grill. my kit came with a plug and play harness. From my understanding the the DRLs will be on during the day and the lower fog lights and head lights will be on at night.

Hey I am doing the same swap on my 2014 camaro rs. I have all of the zl1 parts bought and painted. I have purchased the 2013 camaro rs headlights and I ran into an unexpected issue when doing this. With the 2014 rs it is a 6 pin connector for the rs projectors and the 2013 rs is a 4 pin connector. Has anyone figured out how to convert this yet or has somebody produced a harness adapter that would fit? Gen5diy.com sells the turn signal adapter and I have already bought it and it works but they have yet to answer my response as to if they would make the other needed adapter. If anyone wants to see what it looks like right now my instagram is @element.10

Did the conversion 5 years ago (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=228300), very strait forward, you have to remove the wiring harness from your bumper, pop on the ZL1 bumper absorber onto the new bumper attach the wiring harness to the new bumper absorber. pop in the DRL's if you order from Gary's the fogs will come installed on the new bumper. You will need to order the fog light wiring harness from Ofer (Gen5DIY.com)
