Bosch vs ID injectors
Question for everyone. If the ID injectors are Bosch bodies to begin with, why is there a 400 premium on the ID's over the Bosch ( Bosch 85/lb injectors vs the ID 850's)?
Is it really that much better of an injector or are you paying for a name? QC is so tight from Bosch in the first place, I don't know if I can justify spending the extra $400 for a name and some cool colors. Maybe I'm looking at this wrong, but what is everyone's take on this? |

Do you have access to all the tables for the injector characteristics for Bosch injectors so you can put them in the tune? No? Then will you just make them up?
ID has done all the testing to create accurate tables that work in the GM tunes and gives you all the data for the tune. Install injectors, load the data tables into your tune and fire it up. Or use the Bosch injectors and spend weeks on your own trying to come up with numbers in the tables that will give you an acceptable tune. Only about 1000 data points to pull out of your ass and hope they work.

Do a little research on here and you would have found the info Bryan is talking about. It's been hashed out over and over again. There is a video on ID showing their process and how they come up with their data for the injectors they sell. Very impressive, worthy of a congrats from any aerospace company.

Yeah, after reading that, I seem to come across a little harsh. Just meant to say there's a ton of info on this forum and as usual, Bryan nailed it with his description of why a lot of people choose ID for their injector of choice.
Here's the video I was mentioning on their facility and how awesome their process is and the incredible amount of testing they do to provide the tuner with the required info needed for upgraded injectors.

The extra money they cost is really for the data. There is some data out there for some of the common Bosch 36 lb and Bosch 42 lb that Greg Bannish published in his book/CD a long time ago. Bosch doesn't publish it. GM engineers have it. But other than that tuners were just trial and error experimenting with the tune to get close. When ID came around several years ago with their own injectors and data tables to go with them it made tuning for big injectors much easier. If you are not a tuner and are paying someone else to tune then use what they are comfortable with.

Beware I have seen some tunes from some cars where the owner bought ID injectors and the tuner they used completely ignored or was unaware of the data tables that go with them. In that case it was a big waste of money. And they need to find a competent tuner.
