Am I getting bamboozled?

2010 SS - 45K miles

Took my car to the dealer for a Transmission Fluid change and also to fix a transmission cooler line leak. From what I could tell only one was leaking so it didn't surprise me when they called me and told me that the 2nd one should also get replaced. However, he also said there was a third line that also needs to get replaced.

Is there even a third line running to the tranny?

To top it off I was looking at over $600 for the flush and replacement of the lines. I told them to just change the lines and to top it off, bringing me back to $300 but no flush.

Where do you guys go to get this type of work done once your car is out of warranty?

I havnt been back to the dealer since my warranty ran out. Find a local garage that you can trust does good work. Word of mouth is the best way to find these guys. You may have a friend who knows a place....ask around a bit.

Thanks for replying Ron. Hopefully they can show me which lines they replaced and I can deal with the fluid change later. Not having a dipstick to measure the tranny fluid really irks me.

There's 2 hard and 2 soft lines from trans to radiator. One of each in each direction.

They ended up replacing the solid lines and the rubber ones. Total was a tad over 400.
