3 teens wreck GT on test drive

Did a search, but didn't see it posted yet.

http://www.carthusiast.com/three-tee...drive-528.html

I can't believe a dealer would be dumb enough to give 3 teens the keys to a Mustang GT and let them drive it unsupervised. Those kids are very lucky they're still alive. Speedo was stuck at 100mph!

Repost, but I can't find the original thread through searching either, so don't feel bad.

Ought to put it on a flatbed and take it around to the local schools with the three dimwits and have them give an explanation as to why aggressive driving can be so dangerous

Like the drunk driving displays that they take around to the high schools each year (at least here in OK)?

I can't imagine a dealer letting them test drive it. I thought you had to be 21 (they wouldn't even let my daughter, who was 16 at the time) test drive a car on a used lot.

Glad no one got hurt. It's amazing.

Definitely don't have to be 21. I drove onto a lot at 19 to test drive a new GT for my then-fiance since she's a mustang fanatic but doesn't like driving her 65 around (she was too scared to drive a dealership car, so I drove it for her on the test drive - didn't matter because she ended up hating the car) and they had no qualms about handing over the keys to me.

Of course, I drove onto the lot in my IROC, so that may have affected things. I don't know how dealerships handle things like that.

I am surprised that the salesperson didn't go with them.. NO ONE tests drives a car solo at my dealership. And for our high performance cars, we have to get a copy of your insurance first. Our Corvettes, will not be test driving until we have came to an agreement on payments etc, and it is approved in the box.. That way when the customer drives the Corvette he knows he is the first one to drive his car.

Its not this way at every dealership though (and thank god for that. I hate having a salesperson with me on a test drive) - many of the ones here just get a copy of your license and insurance and then let you take the keys.

Depending on the car, of course.

When I test drove the Camaro, they took a copy of my license and insurance card and the salesman squished himself into the back seat. lol

How the fudge can you be ejected at 100mph or even any speed and walk away with minor scratches? Did they land on top of a bed of marshmallows?
