Dynomax VT

So I finally decide to buy a Dynomax VT axle back system (# 38493) only to find out the official status from Dynomax is: back ordered for an indefinite amount of time. And it appears that no vendors have it in stock, which makes sense because they all just drop ship from Dynomax. I even called Jegs to see if they had one warehoused somewhere since they are so large and they don't. And other vendors just show it as unavailable.

I know that is might be possible to just order the mufflers (53780 & 53781) but has anyone done that and had success? I guess I might just have to put my trust in a good muffler shop. It does appear that 53780 and 53781 come with the tips and very back hangers so it would just be a matter of matching up what's left after cutting off the stock suitcases to 53780/53781 and getting the other hanger towards the rear end to work.

Any other ideas would be appreciated.

I bumped up the LFX exhaust thread for you. Checkout Ppriyam, he put the DynoMaxx VT's on his car and has the website and part numbers he used. Post number 20, page Two. Good luck!

Wow. Trying to find even these parts are a pain the ... The vendor in that post #20 that Ppriyam used, who is well know of course, shows them as unavailable. I just chatted with Jegs who told me that they show a date of later this month, but I'd be lucky if they showed up at all. Apparently getting parts out of Dynomax has been difficult for them and it's just not these parts for the Camaro. So I'll keep checking around and call Dynomax directly if I need to.

That link to Summit that Kenny provides earlier in the thread shows an estimated ship date of 2/27... if you order today.

The same date shows for Jegs but they told me I'd be lucky if the parts showed at all. So that why I said I will be calling Dynomax directly today to get down to the bottom of this.

I finally got a straight answer from Dynomax. They are discontinuing the entire VT line, therefore the complete kit and even the 53780/53781 are not available and won't be.

I could try to find just the mufflers, without hangers, but there is a reason they are discontinuing them. So for those who already have them, I wish you the best of luck.

Ouch. I had these on my list too. Did they give you the reason for the discontinuation? Maybe they have a new and improved model on the way or something.

It looks like ebay has (2) left of each model, the 53780 and the 53781.

They directed me to the Ultraflow line. They didn't say why.

My guess would be warranty issues didn't allow the line to be profitable. So I'm not going too take a chance since the warranty wouldn't be worth anything.

Sounded like a recipe for disaster. Spring loaded flaps inside the sealed muffler housing? Definitely NOT a good idea from a warranty standpoint.
