Does anybody know if it is absolutely necessary to replace the 5th bow if you replace both brackets and all of pins? One if the articles say "How to fix for $200" The brackets, pins, retainers, and rivets just cost me $470.55 and my friend works at GM. I tried to PM the person who wrote the post a few days ago, so far no answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am new to the forum. I just bought a 2011 2SS Convertible.

I'm not sure if it will help your cause but there is a discussion about the 5th bow in the convertible section of the site...in case you haven't already checked it.
