Painting SS emblem
Hey guys. I bought a trailblazer SS emblem and want to paint it red and use it to replace the rear bowtie. My question is how do you paint these things? They have a pearl white-colored SS strip that is glued onto the emblem, should I peel that off and paint the metalic emblem or rough up and paint the colored SS inlay? I have some paint that matches the red SS badges thats spray and also some thats in a bucket with brush, which would be better?

We just prep and sand them very well. you can spray right over as long as its very clean and sanded. Sand it very well in all the little edges so the paint will stick. You may need to put down an etch primer to help.
Hope that helps and good luck

You could also do vinyl - I just ordered these for the RS emblem the other day:

Nice, thanks guys.
I tried painting last night with some duplicolor flash red. I taped off the chrome edges and laid down some paint. I let it dry all night and some of this morning and tried to peel off the masking tape. When I peeled the masking tape back it pulled back the paint also. I'll try the brush on method today ans see how that goes.

It went pretty well. I'm just waiting to get the time to go to the grapics shop to get my trunk panel blackout then I'll put it on.
![]() I also did my front bowtie with flat black and clear.
