DIFFERENTIAL DIFFERENCES.....
This isn't a question about what gear is gonna be best for (insert some obscure combo here).
Ive got a 2012 Caprice and after 120,000 miles the diff has finally gave up the ghost. Only option is to go with some thing stronger and more performance minded. Ive spent some time searching and haven't found a definitive description on the differences between the v6 and v8 diff's. Im aware a6 v6 are non lsd and every thing else is. I know the auto LSD's are 3.27 and the MANUALS SS is a 3.45. My main concern is are there any strength differences between the two v6 and v8. I found this, which appears to be a great deal, but you know what they say about something that is too good to be true. http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-15-Chevro...BZeohp&vxp=mtr |

Stock units are pretty stout. I think the question here is.....what kind of hp are you throwing at it......how hard do you drive it.

It's a big cam, header, exhaust, and intake car. So nothing crazy. There are 325's out back which probably doesn't help. I think I'm gonna pick up the one I linked and do the offset bushings while I'm at it. I guess I was Just concerned I could end up with a weaker V6 option cause I didn't do enough research.

If you're looking for a rear on e bay I've had good dealings with the parts farm. Correct descriptions and detailed pics. Fair prices for their stuff.

Wrong. V6 auto is not the same pumpkin, gear and has no posi. V6 manual and SS are the same unit but different gears and same crappy clutch posi. Then 1LE with 3.91 and same crappy clutch posi. Then Z/28 with 3.91 and gear posi.

V6 manual and up is still the same diff barring different ratios. Who would buy an auto v6 anyway?

So exactly what I was afraid of happened. Despite the description saying it would work in an auto SS car, the diff I received doesn't fit my axles. Thanks LKQ. Looks like I received a bullshit auto V6 one
