I was just wondering, after seeing the V6 and knowing it has 296hp, are any people who were gonna buy the V8 SS now gonna buy the V6 RS? I'm still going for the 416hp SS. The fuel econemy doesn't differ between the RS and SS enough for me to change my mind. Although some of my buddies are considering the RS.

I've been on the fence for a while. I have a few conditions that will guarantee which one I buy.
• If the V8 can run on E85, I will get it. • If the V8 gets over 25 mpg, I will be more likely to get it. • Insurance cost is a huge issue for me to consider since I'm 22. • If I have to wait over a year to place an order due to cost, I will get a V6.

It will have do with economy when I can buy one. I want to get a V8, but I've become more and more impressed with what I've heard about the V6. So I'll probably end up testdriving both to make sure which I want.

V6 future owner definitely here
![]() @Navy: half of the cylinders shut down (computer probably tracks and balances "which half", to keep their overall usage even) in this system. So no, V6 won't get this (three cyliders are a fail ). I'd go for a V8 with cylinder deactivation, but then someone here on this forum told me it probably won't be available with manual transmission, and I don't like automatic.

I wanted the v8, but then I woke up and realized there is no way in hell I'll be able to afford insurance on a 415+ hp car at 18
The v6 will do just fine.... I've got a few mods planned anyway

The V6 definitely has adequate power, and the lighter weight is good. You can't argue with the lower cost of purchase, insurance, and gas. However, the SS is more than just a bigger engine. It is the complete performance package: brakes, suspension, etc. If they have a package for the V6 to get it close the SS's braking and suspension, it would almost certainly win, but for now I think the extra money for the top-of-the-line (until the Z28 or whatever the call it comes out) will be worth it. I'm considering the V6, but I'd have to have all the info released (pricing, options, etc), get insurance quotes on both, and see what markups/markdowns the dealers are making on each model before making my decision.

Even though there definitely is a replacement for displacement I want the V-8 sound along with the extra kick. If cost was the issue I might opt for a a V-6 RS, it will still be a sweet car and almost as fast as the existing Mustang GT.
I almost feel a little sad for Ford, almost. |
