Right Rear Turn Signal

I tried to do a search, but no avail.

Today my DIC showed a message.... Check right rear turn signal lamp.

So anyways, I need to replace the bulb. I have 24,xxx miles on the car so kinda weird it happened so soon IMO.

But.... would this be something covered under bumper to bumper if I went to the dealer so I wouldn't have to mess with it?

Or is there a quick, easy, and cheap way for me to do it myself?

Just curious.

Thanks!

Yes this would be covered under your bumper to bumper warranty.

Bulb replacement is in the Owners Manual and takes a few minutes.

In my 2010 manual, it's on page 9-40.

The bulb chart is on page 9-41.

Anyone that reads this with intent on replacing the bulb.

Two bulbs at Advanced Auto Parts cost $5.99

It literally took me 5 minutes to take the plastic top off, the three pop rivet thingys, put the new bulb in, and put it back.

Super simple.

FYI - i know this is an old bump, but for anybody searching the 'rivets' you have to pop out are a pain in the ASS...

be sure you only pop off the top of the rivet, as there's a base and you can't pop it off from the base. i spent 30 minutes trying to get the rivets out and one got stuck. also, the far bulb is a pain in the ass to get your hand in and put the fixture back in the hole.

Deliberately necro-posting this thread from 2013.

By now, there ought to be some consensus about whether the right rear signal is a persistent problem, or whether it just seems to have been be the first to go on what were (in 2013) still relatively newly-built cars.

Anybody replace it once and done?

Anybody replacing it more frequently than seems like normal?

On the way to the parts store now to get a pack of 3157's now for my 2011 with 28K miles on it.

I have a 2010, and have not had to replace a single bulb so far...knock on wood.

Replacing taillight bulbs is trivial. What I'm dreading are the side markers and fog lights.

The repair took all of 2 minutes.

Looks like the PO has been in that area previously.
All three pop-clips looked normal from the top, but the slider on two of the three was broken in varying degrees. Still was able to use them for re-assembly, but I kinda hate putting broken parts back on the car.

The rapid blinking of just one right-side light is now restored to normal blinking of both right side lights.

Parts store sells 3157 bulbs in two packs. I used one. As I was putting the unused bulb in my big baggie of car bulbs from the ages, I discovered I already had an unused 3157 bulb that I could have used for the current repair. The older package was marked in my handwriting: "Corolla". Didn't even cross my mind that GM and Toyota would use the same tail light bulbs.

The Corolla that went with that older package was destroyed last year when it was rear ended by an idiot who was (I swear on a stack of Bibles) hunting for Pokemon. The idiot in the Mustang actually managed to take out FOUR cars in that stunt.

Rule 3(c)(ii): never pass up an opportunity to lay blame on Mustang drivers

Funny, the first and almost only thing to go on my 10 SS was the right rear tail lamp bulb.
Cost me about $3.00 and 10 minutes to replace.

So you bought two bulbs, took the whole thing apart, and only replaced one?
What are you saving the other one for? Your next Corolla?

There is definitely something strange with the turn signals. When I installed my led sequential lights I had to reverse the wiring of the left and right sides to get a rapid blinking problem fixed.
