2014+ 1LE Hood fit to 2010 Fascia/Bumper

Anyone try fitting a 2014+ hood onto a 2010+ 2SS/RS with front fascia/bumper? I know the ZL1 hood will fit its just the front fascia molding lines from the center does line up to hood lines. I tried looking thru the forums and its probably hidden somewhere. Thanks.

The hood lines extend beyond what the fascia can be modded to align with.

ok, I see the 1LE hood lines are wider to the fascia. I guess now I now I have to look for a aftermarket front and hopefully doesn't look chessy or may have to abandon the idea.

FYI, not just the 1LE, all 2014+ SS and SS/1LE hood cowls are wider than the 2010-2013 hood cowl.

The hood vent will neutralize 150 pounds of lift the 10-13 have at speed.

Isn't lb/ft a unit of torque?

I've been thinking of just having a body shop install the 14-15 vent on my stock hood. Then you will not have a miss-match of cowl lines.
If anyone has done this, I'd love to see pics, etc. I'm also sure the OP would too.

If someone were to add the hood vents to a 2013 1LE, would they then need to change to the large 2014 / 15 rear spoiler to maintain the cars balance, or is there more to it than that? I ask the "more to it than that" due to the changes 14 / 15 cars.

Ha, yes....Pounds of lift. I work and then play on here in a minimized screen, sometimes with minimized attention to detail!

The 1LE front chin was designed to work with rear spoiler as well as the rake of the car. When the front end of a car is lower than the rear a low pressure area is created under the car that creates a downforce. On our cars at speed the front end creates lift which reduces the downforce or "vacuum" under the car. By installing the vent in the hood this will help relieve the pressure and maintain this rake or balance.

If you were to install just a rear spoiler (a-la-Z/28) you will be forcing the rear end of the car down even further creating downforce in the rear, but essentially lifting the front. If you were to use a 14+ rear spoiler you would need to match it to the 14+ front, same with Z/28 rear spoiler and chin spoiler. Aerodynamics has even more "black magic" than suspension tuning and small changes can have huge positive and negative effects.

One of the best videos I have seen regarding aero changes was posted this summer. They are working with a Nissan 350Z in a wind tunnel and it is well worth watching.

I've been thinking of adding the vent and possibly the ZL1 rear spoiler, since our 10-13 cannot use the 14-15 spoiler or Z/28 without major body work since the deck lids are different. I may also add a ZL1 belly pan.

Mark,
This has been done by quite a few people already. There is a DIY here on the forum for it actually.

I don't think the ZL1 hood will line up with the front bumper on the SS model.

Correct. Both the ZL1 hoods (all model years) and the 2014+ SS & Z/28 hoods will not match the cowl lines on the bumper covers of 2010-2013 SS's.

ACS has a Z/28 style spoiler for our 10-13 trunk lids...
