exhaust help!!

hey guys. the story here is that when i got my car, it already had a aftermarket exhaust on it but it was very quiet. so i took the Magnaflow resonator off and put and x pipe and removed the mufflers and put flow master super 10s. so now my current setup is x pipe and super 10s. and the drone is unreal, i cant drive and enjoy my car anymore. Is there anything i can do to lessen the drone without buying a whole new exhaust? will putting the magna flow resonator back on lessen the drone. also when accelerating at 50 mph the car vibrates violently, what can fix that too.
open to all opinions
thanks guys,
cole

If you like the sound you're getting then try adding j-pipes to right before the mufflers - the drone will be reduced significantly...

After battling through many setups on my car i will give you some advice. Go out and get yourself a quality catback.Corsa and Borla don't drone and have excellent quality and sound. Otherwise you will be screwing around for a long time.

Hey Cole. Yeah, Flowmaster in general are notorious for droning. I personally can't stand them. They also flow much less cfm of exhaust gas than other makes like Borla, Dynomax Ultra-Flo, Magnaflow, etc.. People like their sound, but that's about all they have going for them, if you want to know the honest truth.
As others mentioned, either add the J-pipe and/or switch to Magnaflow or Borla maybe. My personal choice is the Dynomax Ultra-Flo welded models. They are straight-through type, which flow basically the same as an open pipe but they have ceramic packing, so no drone. I've installed them on maybe a dozen cars I've had over the years and I've always been really pleased with the tone they have and the lack of drone.
As far as the vibration, likely when it hits 50 mph your getting to the frequency resonance point in the powerband and it's causing the vibration. The J-pipe or non-droning muffler may cure that problem as well-- if not, make sure the muffler guy properly locates the hanger strap/ isolator in your system.
Hope that helps!

Give Steve from Solo Performance a shout. He'll hook you up with some J pipes that will cancel your drone out. He's also a sponsor here GoingSolo2 if I remember right. It's amazing what those pipes will do for you.

Agreed. I put on a Borla Type-S cat back exhaust and it doesn't drone and sounds perfect (to me). I used Summit Racing and they price matched Amazon which was surprising. I kept the stock exhaust as it's the only thing not stock on my Dusk Edition with 2,600 miles.
