Hood Vent Watertray Hardware

... or whatever they call those push fasteners...

Does anyone know what the exact name or part number for the fasteners that hold in the water deflector? I can see that I'll have them boogered up before too long and would like to have a spare set while at the track.

Probably either Mud Guard Retainer - GM (11589295) to attach the air deflector to the hood and scoop, or Insulator Retainer - GM (11571159) to attach the surrounding plastic pieces to the hood. They're detailed under 2015 Chevrolet Camaro>Body>Hood & Components in the online parts ordering.

Serious question: why would anyone ever leave that guard installed unless your washing your car? I no longer even put it in when washing the car anymore. That thing traps way too much heat IMO.

Because Chevrolet must have had a reason. Which is good enough for me. I do as they direct and remove when on track. But then again I must be a goober as I change the oil and diff fluid after track as well per their direction.

I do wonder about that. I have it removed because the car is garage kept, and I’m in Southern California where rain or bad weather isn’t an issue, so I let the motor breathe. Oil temps do seem to stay a bit lower, but it’s only been 70 degrees most days lately, I want to see how it does when getting run around this summer..

Rain drip tray removed for first track day and never reinstalled.

There are several pieces - Chevrolet recommends the rain tray be removed for the track. The second piece seals up the airbox, keeping hot engine air from coming in, so you want to leave that piece in place.

Only purpose rain guide serves is to retain heat and direct water away from the top of the motor. So unless you are driving it in very cold weather or in the rain, there is no reason to leave that in the car.

I am also in S. Cal - so mine came out when I got the car home and has not been in since. When I wash the car I put a shammy and towel over that area to catch the water.

I would take it out and save it for a rainy day!
