Rear Cradle Bushings missing outer metal cap... Is this a bad thing?

Hey all,

In a previous post I was/am chasing a shake/vibration while I drive from 50-75mph. I have it narrowed down to brake rotors, but I'm checking to see if there are any other issues to address.

A few other forum solved their shake/vibration by making sure the rear strut bolts were tightened. All mine were at torque.

Anyways, while I was down there inspecting things for another cause, I spotted that my rear passenger cradle bushing was missing its outer metal cap. Pic is at the bottom of my post.

About a year and a half ago I was involved in a minor wreck where some one hit me in the rear passenger wheel area. I had a dealership do the repair, and it's the only time I can think of that anyone did any suspension work in this area. So it must have been them.

My main question is, would this part missing have any impact at all on my car? Will the bolt back out and cause the cradle to be loose? Is it optional or should I seek a replacement?

Thanks in advance!

Why don’t you just swap in solid bushings?

The cap helps support the bushing with out it it just mushes around. I'd get a set of solids it will improve acceraltion feel and sloppiness of the rear cradle.

I'm surprised your Cradle hasn't fallen out without the Cap

That metal cap keeps the bolt from being pulled through the bushing.
