Does transmission output shaft failure apply to SS Autmatics?

Does the tranny output shaft failure apply to Automatic SS?

That's what I thought but I've experienced a problem with a two day old camaro at with 100 miles on it ... i got it new, had 20 miles on it ... why, i don't know, i'll just pretend it took 10 mile sto get to the detail shop and back while they prepped it ...

regardless, the car drove flawlessly, didn't beat on her, no 4000 rpm usage ... then friday night i had a "harder-than-usual" downshift occur and ever since then the car felt as if it were running a bit differently as far as any time i give it gas.

Yesterday I warmed her up, backed out, drove down the block and i hear a funny sound in what i thought was the transmission and ever since then I've been experience knocking when i'm at a stop, the car fights the gas a give it, or it seems as if power is lost ... in any event I will keep you all posted on the diagnosis so that we all know what to look out for.

Does it run like crap in Neutral? If so it is not the output shaft.

no it seemed relatively normal in neutral .. in drive and reverse though, at a stop i feel a cluttering, or a low knocking in the rear end sometimes, and sometimes right through the shifter under the center console. In addition the car seems slugish, moreover the pedal, when i give gas seems to have more of a sandpapery feel to it, a rasp of sorts. Not an audible one but a hoarse feel. the car shifts 1-2 fine, but 2-3 and 3-4 seem to come later than usual, it's totally diferent from when i picked her up the first hours of driving ...
