15in vs 17in tire

I’m finishing up my 13 zl1 build and am curious of any actual proven results between a 17in rear vs a 15 in ? My car has a 15 conversion already but I currently have a 17x10 rear wheel with m/t 28/11.50/17 et street r bias ply tire .. and of course if I decide to buy wheels I’ll be going with a 275/60/15 radial pro ...my car should 60ft in the 1.37-1.42 area ...don’t mind spending the money on the 15 in setup but before spend the money I’d like to know actual real results you’ve had switching..

I haven't done it. If I were to think about I would only consider it if I were having problems with traction with 17's then I would consider the 15's if I was all out drag car, which I am not. More sidewall more shock absorbed especially on an M6 car. If you are hooking on the 17's, why switch? I have no real results though. I am curious to see what others have to say.

I looked up the weights on Jegs website so I could compare, and heres what I found:

17" Weld wheel (25 lbs)
28x11.5 ET Street bias ply (27 lbs)
=52 lbs

And

15" Weld wheel (14 lbs)
275/60R15 ET Street Pro (31 lbs)
=45 lbs

7 lbs a piece less, so a 14 lb reduction of rotational weight, not to mention you need smaller brakes and have lightweight options like Aerospace, equating to more reduction in rotational weight. If you're like me, I want every thousandth of a second in the 1/4. Hopefully someone has some experience/input on the difference.

Annoyingly enough, Amazon has the 15" listed at 21 lbs. I wish it were a bit easier to get this info, other than contacting Weld directly. If I owned both of them, I would make a thread with pictures of the scale and back to back timeslips so the info could be readily available.
