2012 SS Rev Limiter

So do these cars come with a preset rev limiter? If so what is it set at? and what happens if you reach it?
Thanks

I think it’s like 6200 for (l99)auto cars and 6500 for (ls3)manual cars.

6800 for the LS3, not sure what the L99 is.

The car cuts fuel off when you hit it. So it just stops accelerating

Yea if you hit it and you aren't spinning tire it will feel like you hit a brick wall. If you're stock and hiring it you're waiting too long to shift, the power starts falling off a few hundred rpm before the limiter. I've only ever hit it once but it was after I was supercharged and i'm pulling hard right to the limit. I've hit it plenty when spinning tire tho.

I'm supercharged SLP585 and it gets to the rev limit so fast pulling hard the whole way I cant believe it. I was in 1st gear about 3000rpms and nailed it it broke loose and hit the rev limiter. shifted into 2nd spun most of the way through 2nd and 3rd was crazy too. over 100mph in less than a 1/4 mile and I let off. But it was like the car cut off when I hit the rev limit need to get use to it I guess I had all the traction control off to see how it would do.

Ok so you're not stock. The rev limiter may need to be raised have you had it dynotuned? Also sounds like you need some good sticky tires. Spinnin ain't winnin! Is it crammed or still stock valve train? But yes when supercharged it will usually pull right to the limiter so you need to learn the car, it's a rough stop when you hit the limiter while you have traction essentially like you completely lifted your foot of the pedal all of a sudden.

No it is not camed I talked to SVE/SLP about the car they did there own setup and dyno tune when they built the car fro GM. The told me it is dyno tuned and was putting out 585HP/585FTLB torque. I would like to have it dynoed and see what it is showing but not sure about any other tune it runs dam good now. Here is a link to MotorTrends review.

You can change the limiter without messing with the tune but without knowing what's done to the valvetrain you're safer leaving the rpm limiter where it is.
