Question about a jack for my Camaro

I need a cheap jack solely for the purpose of swapping out my winter rims/tires. My question is will a scissor jack from a 4th Gen match up properly with the jacking point on a 5th Gen? If not do you have any other suggestions? I really don't want to invest in a floor jack and take up the garage space for something I will only use twice a year. But then again I don't want get something that doesn't match up correctly and risk damage to my car. Thanks!

You can use a small bottle jack if you only lift one corner at a time.

A nice scissor jack similar to the one furnished with the LT's is available at Wal Mart for about $22.

Go to wal-mart and buy you a floor jack, I know you said it takes up to much space but they have some small ones that break down easily. You can get one that will easily fit in a small cabinet. You will be thanking me on this one. It takes for ever to raise and lower a scissor jack. When you start it moves all over the place, and it is just a pain.

Yes buy a small floor jack, they have smaller ones for like 30 bucks that dont take up much space. They are way faster and safer than using a scissor jack. This is one of those things that you don't want to skimp on as the car could either fall on you and kill you, or fall on the ground and damage the car. Not fun...

besides one day you may wanna start working on the car yourself and you will need it anyway.

Thanks for the input! Great points on the floor jack - that sounds like the way to go.

Just to relate a quick story (because I'm in a mood today after I hit the side of my garage with my SS yesterday) I didn't jack up this firebird I had correctly once and while I was away it fell off damaging the brake rotor, and rear suspension..... at that point I spent about $700 to replace a swaybar endlink

OUCH! Yea I don't want to save a dime to spend a dollar. I just need to do a little rearranging in the garage to make a place for the floor jack. It's kind of like a 'new toy' anyway.

If you have a flat tire and the car is low to the ground, a scissor tyope jack is the only way to go. Other jacks don't get low enough. if you don't want the scissors jack to move around, just raise it before you slide it under the car.

I suggest you get a real floor jack, you'll most likily be under the car more than you think!
