TCS light/Stabilitrack/Power Steering
Hi, new to the forums and this is my first post.
Took my car into the dealership for a routine oil change and tire rotation, and they said they needed to keep it for a couple weeks to fix an oil leak. When I got it back, I had new problems with my car. - TCS light - Service Stabilitrak - Service Power Steering, Drive with care On a cold start in the morning or evening, I get any combination of these three indicators including immediately upon starting my car while it is still sitting idle in the garage. Sometimes it doesn't come on until I get about 5 miles or so up the road in the morning. When I drive it home from work in the afternoons, it never does it. Maybe because it sits in the sun all day, I have no idea. But when it is at its worst, I will be sitting at red lights or inside my garage without having moved the vehicle yet and the steering wheel will literally start moving itself. And of course, when all of this is happening the steering wheel is more difficult to turn. I took it back to the dealership immediately upon discovering this and after a few days they told me they replaced a steering angle sensor that was discovered to have shorted out. The next morning, the problem persisted. I took it back, and after a few days they said that they realigned the steering wheel. However, the problem remained the next time I drove it after a cold start in the morning. Where it stands now, they have had the car since July 14th and "still haven't figured it out." Any ideas on what they should be doing to fix this problem? What kind of recourse I have considering the problem did not exist until they worked on it for an unrelated issue? I've been generously patient, but my car has been in and out of their dealership since May and it's getting old. It doesn't seem like an issue that should take this long to resolve, but I'm no expert. |

Maybe damaged a wheel bearing sensor when taking the tires off somehow?

That is something they haven't tried yet, so maybe that will end up being the issue. Definitely not the steering angle sensor, and definitely not just a steering wheel alignment. But I'm over here wondering if they truly thought those two things were the fix at the time, or if they were just guessing? And if the fact that they've had the car for over a month now further indicates that they don't truly know what it is or how to figure it out

Anything plugged into the OBDII port? Weak battery can cause that also when you try and start it.

Someone I know at the dealership (not a mechanic) said he saw the front axle removed when they were working on the oil leak. I think, not 100%, that it was at the rear main seal.
I have no extras of any kind on the car. |

Not sure what "front axle" means on a Camaro.

they lowered the front cradle to drop the engine out which you have to disconnect the lower steering shaft from the steering gear

Update: got the car back from the dealership from having worked on it a third time, had it three days, and all of the same problems remain - Service Stabilitrak, service power steering, TCS light. I contacted GM, But regardless of the fact that it happened on the dealerships watch they don't seem to care one way or the other about my car because the bumper to bumper has expired. All they do is check in with me periodically to see if I've made a new appointment to get it worked on at the dealership, which I cannot do yet because my service advisor who is familiar with the case is currently on vacation. To say that I am tired of wasting my time driving back and forth between work or home and the dealership to drop my car off and switch out loaners is an understatement to say the very least.
