Z/28 Shifter Suggestions
Hope everyone is surviving this crazy year. Living in PA they have already salted the roads once so the Z/28 is nestled in the garage for a long winters nap. This only means it’s time to tinker. I really want to pull the heads and address the known issues and slide a cam in it but haven’t convinced myself to pull the trigger yet. I still have a GM warranty until June so might wait it out to see if something happens and allow GM to pick up the labor. I do want to replace the stock shifter as it’s a little to sloppy for my taste. The MGW deal looks legit but wanted to gather some opinions from you all. If I’m missing a thread on this I apologize in advance !

I've used the GM OEM short-throw ZL1 as provided in the 5th gen SS 1LE option, the aftermarket Hurst short-throw shifter in a friend's 5th gen SS and I own the Short Throw Shifter Assembly for OEM Use version of the three models of MGW's. IMO, the MGW is absolutely the best aftermarket option. I'm a big fan.

I agree with above, I put the MGW in my 1LE and it was fantastic. I am awaiting delivery of my second MGW for the Z/28 to put in this winter. It’s really quality built and I believe it is 11% shorter throw over the stock one we have.

It must be an mgw shifter winter. I ordered one as well and looking forward to improved shifting this spring/summer. I had a hurst in my V6 and the Z28 shifter was better than that so everyone that has mgw says it’s the best so I had to get one. Retro and OEM stick so I can switch if needed.

Yes MGW website is where I ordered both now. They called me last week to tell me they should ship out late last week or early this week just because they are a little backed up. Very nice people for sure.
And yes, it is a very fantastic shifter. I can’t see there being a difference between the 1LE and Z/28 as for it being installed. But will report back when I get it! Lol |
