Mustang Mania

A man was driving his Mustang when he saw the flash of a traffic camera. He figured that his picture had been taken for exceeding the limit, even though he knew that he was not speeding. Just to be sure he went around the block and passed the same spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed. Now he began to think that this was quite funny, so he drove even slower as he passed the area again, but the traffic camera again flashed. He tried a fourth time with the same result. He did this a fifth time and was now laughing when the camera flashed as he rolled past, this time at a snail's pace.

Two weeks later, he got five tickets in the mail for driving without a seat belt.. You just can't fix stupid.

Very funny.

4 of those tickets will thrown out.

I was driving on the freeway near Melbourne, Australia and they have speed cameras on the freeways and I was drivng my dad-in-law's Audi, speeding and it was too late before I noticed a camera, so I just kept going, passed another and another and another in a 20km stretch. Weeks later, I was already back in US and my in-laws received several speeding citations in the mail. My dad-in-law refused to pay all 4 tickets, argued that the court look at the time stamped on the speeding photos, they were only and unbelievably just minutes apart so that meant I was only speeding once on the same stretch of road. He was right and he won! He was still unhappy he had to pay one, but what can I say?

Uhmmm, it's a joke... got it in an e-mail and doctored it a little for posting here... but your story from Aussie land is a good one... I work with a bunch of crack head aussies... No wonder we got a bad rep with them...
Their favorite statement to each other about us if if they talk real slow, we'll catch on... and they are not talking about their accent...

What can ya say about the Aussies... they love their radar and lidar. Even MORE important... most of the speeding tickets issued on highways near their cities don't use either. A camera photographs your license plate, the computer scans it into the system and time stamps it by location. The next camera down the road snaps your license plate again, the computer enters it again - then checks the timestamp against prior entries. Ta da! Speed = distance / time... and you're ticketed. No radar or lidar needed, no police needed. Everything is processed automatically. Most of the cameras are in fixed positions on bridges, but there's no point in slowing down near one, obviously.

Oh, and if the computer detects a vehicle and can't get a read on the license plate? The highway police are notified, including a nice colour jpeg photo sent to their patrol car of the offending vehicle. Wave for the camera! The fine for having an unreadable license plate will bankrupt you.

Wanna know why Aussie car design is understated and muscle cars don't sell well? That's part of the reason.
