Passenger window not ‘indexing’

I pulled the battery for 2 days while I repainted the battery area of the trunk. I opened the passenger door while battery was not in car. (dumb) Without electrical power the window did not partially drop in response to the lifting of the door handle. The glass just rode over the door frame and popped free as I pulled the door open. Realizing what I’d done, I left the door ajar for two days rather than force the window over the door frame again.

I reconnected the battery after two days, started the car and hoped the window would index down so I could close the door. No luck. I had to lower the window using the window control button so as to close the door. The window continues to refuse to index properly (open a bit when I open the door and raises upon closing the door like it is supposed to). I have to power the window down manually to clear the door frame before I can open or close the door. What did I screw up? Can I fix it by pulling a fuse or something?

What works on mine is hold the driver window down button as it goes down and continue to hold it for just a couple seconds then hold it while it goes up and for a couple seconds after it reaches the top. Repeat for the passenger side. Occasionally might have to repeat the process more than once.

I'll sure give it a try. Would be great if it is something so simple.

Door glass indexes just fine now. Geez, since I'm on such a winning streak,..

Thanks for posting. Worked for me too Same thing happened when I disconnected and reconnected the battery for some mod work, got msg to index driver window but it wouldn’t index even with OBD2 memory saver hooked up via extention cord thru fully open driver window with door closed. All other memory features were saved. I swear these cars electric components have minds of their own

Update - Disconnected battery again for another mod This time I ran the extention cord for the OBD2 memory saver thru the sunroof with both doors closed and windows up. This time all memory features saved again but didn't have to re-index windows. I think that if any window is open (either all the way or just partially by opening the door) you will have to do a re-index if you disconnect the battery even if you have a memory saver attached.

ps - with both doors closed and windows up both doors locked automatically when I disconnected the battery even with the power saver attached
