credit card points - someone please chime in

I'm really starting to think that buying a Camaro just wan't meant to be for me. I've been waffling for several months about ordering one.....and have been searching inventory in case something came up. I saw the GM card top-off points promotion was in effect (I have $3k in points) - AND - my 2nd choice of 'rare' combination just popped up in a dealer inventory nearby (IOM 2ss/rs, white stripes, with beige or gray leather). So I had just about convinced myself to finally pull the trigger....until I just found out that my account wasn't selected as part of the top-off points promotion. Anyone out there have any experience with this? Is there anything I can do to get the promo? Apparently the promotions are quarterly, but I seriously doubt I'm going to find something on the lot that I want next time I get selected (if I get selected).

Its a private offer from GM and not available to everyone.Did you call the card center or have your dealer check into it for you?

I called the card center - and was basically told that if I updated my profile, I might get picked for the next promo. Was just wondering if anyone here knew if the codes were transferable, etc..

GM Card earnings are transferable between people. The person that has earnings that he does not want to use has to add your name to his GM Card for you to get the earnings. Of course the person transfering has to have faith in your honesty because you would now have all the Credit Card info to use. You don't get the the promotion unless you receive the card in the mail. The whole agreement id available to review on line at the Rewards center.

It also depends on which GM Card is envolved. You can not use "unlimited earnings" on all the cards. Some are limited as to the individual vehicle.

When I bought my camaro last year there was a limit of 1,000 gm points that could be used on it, even though I had more points than that. You might want to check on that as well.

You weren't selected for the promotion because you have more than $2500 in credits. People with less than $1500 were topped off to $2000. People with $1500 to $2500 were topped off to $3000. You are already there, so you weren't topped off.

Depends on which card you have. If you have one of the older cards (I think the blue one) you can use all your points regardless of which car you buy.

Maybe I misunderstood the promotion then...I thought the top-off meant that you could apply more than the $1000 earnings limit (right now I have $3k, but my understanding is that with my card I can only apply at most $1k toward any one GM car - which means I would be ok if I bought 3 cars )

Which kind of GM Card do you have?
